TV1000 Premium for Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania

Viasat, the largest digital TV operator in the Baltic Region, launched the channel TV1000 Premium, which is the first quality movie channel on the Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian market. TV1000 Premium will air Hollywood blockbuster movies 24 hours a day, subtitled in either Estonian or Latvian, while in Lithuania the films are dubbed.

Russian subtitles are available in all counties. The channel will be entirely free of advertising.

Over 300 movies will premiere on the channel each year. In 2008, movies such as There Will Be Blood and The Simpsons Movie will be shown on the channel.

- Our customer surveys have shown that one of the most frequent requests is more movies, says Krista Leppiko, General Manager of Viasat Estonia. He added, These kind of channels are common in other countries, but it's a first for Estonia. 24 hour programming and 300 new movies a year means that there is always something to watch.

TV1000 Premium is only available for Viasat Gold subscribers as an add-on to their current package (and offers them a way to expand their package). The channel will have a monthly subscription fee of 59 Estonian kroons

It is meant as a special treat for our customers. 59 Estonian kroons per month is cheap, compared to what you pay when you go to the movies or rent a DVD. says Krista Leppiko.

During its first year on air, movies lined up to feature include Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Little Miss Sunshine, Borat, The Last King of Scotland, Live Free or Die Hard, The Devil Wears Prada, Hollywoodland, There Will Be Blood, National Treasure: Book of Secrets and The Simpsons Movie.

TV1000 was first launched in Sweden, Norway and Denmark in 1989 and the brand has since been extended extensively. A localised version for Eastern Europe was launched in 2003, and that channel will still, together with TV1000 Russian Kino, launched in 2005, be included in the Viasat Gold package in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The Balkans has had its own TV1000 version since 2005, while Poland has had its since 2007. In the Nordic Region, TV1000 has grown into six different thematic TV1000 channels, as well as the recently launched TV1000 HD.
