TVP resigned from TVP Film broadcast license

Polish Television (TVP) has resigned from its planned project of the movie channel and will ask the National Broadcasting Council to cancel TVP Film\'s broadcast license. This license was granted in August 2007 and the viewers expected TVP Film to appear on Astra 19,2E.

The board of TVP has conducted a thorough analysis of a development perspectives for TVP Film in Polish 2008 media market and in the aftermath a decision was made to cancel the brodcast licence. It is possible that in the future Polish Television will once again decide to launch its movie channel but in a different technological and programmatic form.

It is expected that the license for TVP's another new channel, TVP Rozrywka, can also be canceled. These decisions seem to be very strange with regard to a tremendous movie and entertainment archives of Polish Television.
