Free TVP HD tests on Astra

TVP HD Telewizja Polska S.A. (TVP) has launched a free test transmission of its high definition channel TVP HD on Astra 1KR - 19,2E. Signal is available in 1080i resolution (1920x1080) and bitrate 7,8 Mbit/s with a stereo 256 kbit/s sound. On the screen, you can see a Wilanow Palace and TVP HD caption. Transmission is carried out only on satellite - there are no such tests in DVB-T.

TVP HD will launch in August with broadcasts of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games in high definition on satellite (encoded) and in free-to-air version in terrestrial digital multiplexes. After Olympic Games channel will offer various general programmes in HD.
