Dobre relacje pomiędzy SES Americom i Comsatem są szczególnie ważne, zwłaszcza że Comsat (razem z Elara Comunicaciones) ostatnio podpisał umowę z I+D Mexico i Farmacias de Similares, na mocy którego Comsat rozlokuje ponad 1,000 terminali VSAT dla Caminos y Puentes Federales de Ingresos y Servicios Conexos (CAPUFE), w celu wprowadzenia elektronicznego sposobu opłat, równie skutecznie, jak dla sieci farmaceutycznych w Meksyku.

SES AMERICOM, an SES GLOBAL company (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg stock exchanges: SESG), has announced that its affiliate Sistemas Satelitales de Mexico, S. de R.L. de C.V., (SSM) was awarded a long-term contract by Comsat Mexico, S.A. de C.V., a division of Comsat International, for Ku-band satellite capacity on AMC-4.

Comsat Mexico provides commercial data network solutions, including region-wide connectivity, data center, Internet, voice, satellite, broadcast, and managed services, for enterprise and carrier clients based in the United States, Mexico and throughout Latin America. Comsat Mexico will use AMERICOM's AMC-4 bandwidth via SSM to deliver broadband and transactional VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) and SCPC (Single Channel Per Carrier) services to its clients.

"Comsat's services are critical to the communication infrastructure of Mexico and Latin America, and they have to ensure their equipment and service are reliable and dependable to businesses operating in regions without adequate terrestrial services," said Diego Paldao, Director, Latin America and Caribbean at SES AMERICOM. "We are proud they have turned to AMERICOM for our industry-leading satellite services to support this component of their endeavor."

Brooks added that the relationship between SES AMERICOM and Comsat is especially important, as Comsat (together with Elara Comunicaciones) has recently signed contracts with I+D Mexico and Farmacias de Similares, under which Comsat will deploy more than 1,000 VSATs for Caminos y Puentes Federales de Ingresos y Servicios Conexos (CAPUFE), to process electronic toll payments, as well as for a pharmacy network in Mexico.

About AMC-4

AMC-4 is a hybrid C- and Ku-band satellite that became fully operational in January 2000 at 101 degrees west longitude. Its C-band transponders cover the continental United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Its Ku-band transponders cover North and South America, as each Ku-band transponder can be switched between North America and South America, fully supporting two-way communication throughout the Americas. This satellite also has four transponders in the extended Ku-band, which enable inter-American communications.
