German TELE 5 on Astra 1

New German analogue FTA television channel - Tele5 has started broadcasting on Astra 1-19,2E since the 28th April. SES Astra and Tele München Gruppe have informed about Tele 5 transmission from Astra 1 - 11,552H.

Tele 5 will be accessible to 14.4 million households only in such countries like Germany, Austria and Switzerland. This analogue satellite channel will reach 92% of all German spoken households in the whole of Europe. Tele 5 is using 23 Astra transponder on frequency 11,55275GHz. TELE 5 has started a test transmission from 15th of April .

President and CEO SES ASTRA, Mr Ferdinand Kayser has made a comment about
TELE 5's start:

"Tele München Gruppe decision, to choose Astra satellite for TELE 5 channel transmission, assures the largest programme range on the German language market in Europe. All viewers, which are receiving analogue channels from Astra have a choice from 47 FTA televisions' programmes now, and 40 of them are in German language. We wish Tele 5 success on the market."
