Viaccess to buy Orca Interactive

Viaccess, the French content security company, acquired Israeli middleware provider Orca Interactive for $21.4 million. Ordca stated that its middleware supports 1.2 million active subscribers globally. Orca Interactive is provider of IPTV middleware and applications for broadband network operators and service providers.

It empowers the operator to deliver broadcast TV, video on demand (VOD), personal video recording (PVR), home media and other compelling interactive services.

Viaccess delivers conditional access and DRM solutions in more than 30 countries. Particularly in IPTV protection, Viaccess has over 1.2 million active subscribers. “The acquisition of Orca Interactive by Viaccess will let both companies leverage their respective positions in the fast growing IPTV market. They will be key players of the evolution of the television industry thanks to IP technologies" - says Viaccess CEO François Moreau de Saint Martin.
